I am a software engineer by trade and love to spend a night atop a hill - this site is the collision of those two worlds.

I wanted to build a site that would help me plan my trips, keep track of my gear, and record all my adventures big and small whether they are solo or with friends and family. By building on top of the shoulders of giants like lighterpack and packwizard I was able to build a site that tried to bring a different spin on ultralight by focusing on the trip and the gear that you take with you on your journeys.

OutPack is designed with privacy in mind, giving you full control. You can set your trips, items, packs, and spots to private, making them visible only to you.

You can also make your profile unsearchable, which prevents other users from finding you through the site's search feature.

This flexibility allows you to share what you want while keeping personal details to yourself. For example, you can share public hiking spots with the community while keeping your favourite fishing holes private.
